Accessible voting

It is your right to vote privately and independently. Please call the Edwards County Clerk's office at 620-659-3000 with questions or suggestions about accessible voting in Edwards County.

Special voting procedures are available for anyone who has a permanent or temporary illness or disability which make it difficult or impossible for you to vote at a voting place.

Voting by mail

All of your registration and voting needs can be handled by mail.

To vote by mail, you must complete an Application for an Advance Voting Ballot and mail or fax it to the Edwards County Clerk's office.

Assistance with advance voting

If you have permanent physical disabilities or illnesses, you are permitted to automatically receive advance ballots before every election. Complete the Application for Permanent Advance Ballot Status are send it to the Edwards County Clerk's office.

If you are unable to mark or transmit an advance ballot due to illness, disability, or lack of proficiency in the English language, you may receive assistance from another person. The person giving assistance must sign a statement and return both the statement and the advance ballot to the Edwards County Clerk's office by the time the polls close Election Day.

You may request assistance for any reason, including but not limited to:
  • Physical disability
  • Visual handicap
  • Lack of proficiency in reading the English language

*Note: Accessible voting machines in Edwards County are equipped with an audio ballot feature. If you require an audio ballot, please ask an election worker.

If you are elderly or disabled and your voting place is inaccessible, you may request that your ballot be brought to the entrance of the voting place.
